+
+This repository contains software kits for use with SIMH, a computer simulator,
+with a focus on the DEC PDP-11. Unlike many software kits floating around the
+internet, every kit in this repository has been tested with SIMH and includes a
+`simh.conf` file to configure SIMH appropriately for the software contained on
+disk images included with that kit, as well as a README containing instructions
+on use.
+
+As this is a large repository full of binary files, consider grabbing a
+snapshot rather than a full clone.
