260The \fBtk_setPalette\fR procedure changes the color scheme for Tk.
261It does this by modifying the colors of existing widgets and by changing
262the option database so that future widgets will use the new color scheme.
263If \fBtk_setPalette\fR is invoked with a single argument, the
264argument is the name of a color to use as the normal background
265color; \fBtk_setPalette\fR will compute a complete color palette
266from this background color.
267Alternatively, the arguments to \fBtk_setPalette\fR may consist of any number
268of \fIname\fR\-\fIvalue\fR pairs, where the first argument of the pair
269is the name of an option in the Tk option database and the second
270argument is the new value to use for that option. The following

279\fBtk_setPalette\fR tries to compute reasonable defaults for any
280options that you don't specify. You can specify options other
281than the above ones and Tk will change those options on widgets as
282well. This feature may be useful if you are using custom widgets with
283additional color options.

285Once it has computed the new value to use for each of the color options,
286\fBtk_setPalette\fR scans the widget hierarchy to modify the options
287of all existing widgets. For each widget, it checks to see if any
288of the above options is defined for the widget. If so, and if the
289option's current value is the default, then the value is changed; if
290the option has a value other than the default, \fBtk_setPalette\fR
291will not change it. The default for an option is the one provided by
292the widget (\fB[lindex [$w configure $option] 3]\fR) unless
293\fBtk_setPalette\fR has been run previously, in which case it is the
294value specified in the previous invocation of \fBtk_setPalette\fR.

296After modifying all the widgets in the application, \fBtk_setPalette\fR
297adds options to the option database to change the defaults for
298widgets created in the future. The new options are added at
299priority \fBwidgetDefault\fR, so they will be overridden by options
300from the .Xdefaults file or options specified on the command-line
301that creates a widget.

304it restores the application's colors to the light brown (``bisque'')
