The <code>&amp;</code> operator yields the bitwise AND of its arguments, which
must be plain or long integers.  The arguments are converted to a
common type.

The <code>^</code> operator yields the bitwise XOR (exclusive OR) of its
arguments, which must be plain or long integers.  The arguments are
converted to a common type.

The <code>|</code> operator yields the bitwise (inclusive) OR of its
