     B\bBi\bif\bff\bf informs the system whether you want to be notified when mail arrives
     during the current terminal session.

     Options supported by b\bbi\bif\bff\bf:

     n\bn     Disables notification.

     y\by     Enables notification.

     When mail notification is enabled, the header and first few lines of the
     message will be printed on your screen whenever mail arrives.  A ``biff
     y'' command is often included in the file _\b._\bl_\bo_\bg_\bi_\bn or _\b._\bp_\br_\bo_\bf_\bi_\bl_\be to be exe-
     cuted at each login.

     B\bBi\bif\bff\bf operates asynchronously.  For synchronous notification use the _\bM_\bA_\bI_\bL
     variable of sh(1) or the _\bm_\ba_\bi_\bl variable of csh(1).
