lookbib prints a prompt on the standard error (unless the
standard input is not a terminal), reads from the standard
input a line containing a set of keywords, searches the
bibliographic databases _\bf_\bi_\bl_\be_\bn_\ba_\bm_\be... for references con-
taining those keywords, prints any references found on the
standard output, and repeats this process until the end of
input. For each database _\bf_\bi_\bl_\be_\bn_\ba_\bm_\be to be searched, if an
index _\bf_\bi_\bl_\be_\bn_\ba_\bm_\be.\b.i\bi created by i\bin\bnd\bdx\bxb\bbi\bib\bb(1) exists, then it
will be searched instead; each index can cover multiple
databases.
O\bOP\bPT\bTI\bIO\bON\bNS\bS

-\b-i\bi_\bs_\bt_\br_\bi_\bn_\bg
When searching files for which no index exists,
ignore the contents of fields whose names are in
_\bs_\bt_\br_\bi_\bn_\bg.
-\b-t\bt_\bn Only require the first _\bn characters of keys to be
given. Initially _\bn is 6.
